Peoria Unified School District faces new claim accusing Haley Beck of grooming

A former Centennial High School student is seeking $7 million in a new notice of claim that accuses the Peoria Unified School District of failing to protect him from grooming and exploitation, ABC15 reported Tuesday.

The notice, which is a precursor to a potential lawsuit, alleges that Haley Beck gave the student marijuana and alcohol and hosted him at her home when she was teaching at Centennial, according to the Phoenix TV station.

A district spokesperson confirmed that the notice was received and will be turned over to legal counsel.

Another former Centennial student is seeking $20 million in a notice of claim filed in June that accuses Peoria Unified of failing to protect him from sexual abuse.

Beck and another former teacher, Angela Burlaka, are under a criminal investigation over reports they had a sexual relationship with a male student when they were teachers at Centennial.

Burlaka surrendered her teaching certification on Jan. 26, the same day the district terminated her. Meanwhile, the district fired Beck on March 26 for violating its sexual harassment policy.

Peoria Unified officials have been under fire for how they responded to the allegations against the teachers and for possibly failing to follow the state’s mandatory reporting laws.

The case drew national attention because Beck is the sister of content creator Noah Beck, who has more than 30 million TikTok followers.
