Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks charged for Scottsdale DUI incident

Prosecutors filed a criminal complaint against Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks on Monday for a misdemeanor DUI charge, according to court records.

Brooks was arrested in Scottsdale for suspicion of driving under the influence on March 6.

The arrest happened on Scottsdale Road just south of Thunderbird Road around 1 a.m. MST. Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro reported that Brooks was suspected to be under the influence of marijuana, not alcohol.

Brooks was released from custody around 3:30 a.m.

The situation happened while Brooks was recovering from a hand injury, and he later apologized to his teammates and coaches.

The charge is for a Class 1 misdemeanor, and Brooks has a court date scheduled for Oct. 28.

Brooks had been previously charged for reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit for a Jan. 12 incident in which he was pulled over for driving 85 mph in a 45-mph zone.

He faces Class 2 and Class 3 misdemeanor charges for that case, and his next court date is in November.
