Hall of Flame in Phoenix fully repaired after flood damage a year ago

It’s been exactly one year since the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting in Phoenix was severely damaged by flooding after it was struck by monsoon storms.

Since then, generous donations from the community have allowed the museum to fully restore the damaged areas — which included various buildings, galleries and portions of the gift shop — while also adding an improved drainage system to the museum’s exterior.

“The damage was extensive, impacting drywall, displays, carpets, ceilings and outside areas of the museum,” the Hall of Flame said in a release. “Valley media responded with wonderful coverage, and the result was generous donations from the community. We were therefore able not only to repair the internal damage but also to add an improved drainage system to the museum’s exterior. The Hall of Flame wishes to thank everyone who contributed to our recovery efforts.”

Storms and groundwater runoff hit the east Phoenix museum twice in the span of less than three weeks, first on Sept. 26, 2025, and then on Oct. 13, 2025.

“The two storms each dumped about 4 inches of rain,” Dan Baker, a curator for the museum, told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News a year ago.

The Hall of Heroes exhibit, which honors American firefighters who lost their lives since 1800, and a 9/11 exhibit were among the sections breached by floodwaters.

But thanks in part to over $40,000 in donations to a GoFundMe campaign, the museum never had to close for an extended time during cleanup and repairs.
