Human remains found after submerged SUV pulled from Mesa canal, report says

One person was found dead inside an SUV pulled from a canal near Signal Butte Road and Dragoon Avenue in Mesa, Arizona’s Family reported.

The vehicle was recovered about three hours after the crash, according to the outlet.

In an earlier update, the Mesa Fire Department said emergency crews were at the scene around 12:30 p.m., using a heavy wrecker to lift the submerged SUV. The department described the recovery as “extremely difficult.”

At the time of that update, fire officials had not confirmed how many people were inside the vehicle.
