Body found after car fire extinguished in Gilbert

A body was found inside a car after Gilbert crews extinguished a blaze in the vehicle early Wednesday.

Gilbert firefighters and police officers responded to reports of a car fire near Higley and Williams Field roads before 12:30 a.m.

After putting out the flames, first responders found a dead man inside the vehicle.

Investigators and inspectors from both departments remained at the scene throughout the night.

The man’s identity has not been made public, and investigators have not yet found any suspicious circumstances related to the car fire in Gilbert.

The parking area where the investigation is taking place will remain closed for the next few hours, police said.
