Chandler man accused of threatening to run over schoolchildren, kill Gov. Hobbs

A Chandler man accused of threatening to run over children outside a local school and to kill Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs and her family was booked into Maricopa County’s Towers jail facility on a $100,000 bond, according to booking records.

Daniel Lamb, 40, was arrested by Chandler police Saturday and booked on one felony count of making a terrorist threat.

Court documents allege Lamb sent a series of emails to his mother and a contact at Pepperdine University describing a plan to strike children with a vehicle, singling out BASIS Chandler Primary North and noting the school had a “flimsy fence.”

In another message, police say, Lamb wrote that he planned to track down Hobbs and “stab her and her family to death” on Thanksgiving.

He also allegedly threatened to run over anyone who tried to stop him, including police.

“If you don’t arrest me this weekend, I swear on my life that I will use my car to kill as many people as possible next week,” Lamb said, according to court records.

Lamb’s mother told investigators he has struggled with mental health issues for about 18 years. Some of the threatening messages were also posted to an Instagram account based in Sweden, according to the probable cause statement.

Detectives used cellphone location data to track Lamb to a Chandler residence, where he was positively identified before his arrest.

A judge ordered Lamb held on $100,000 bond. He is next in court on Sept. 25.
