A West Valley man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl after she ran away from a group home in Peoria earlier this year, authorities said.

Jaiden Orion Segundo, 26, was booked into Maricopa County Jail on Wednesday on six charges of sexual conduct with a minor and a probation violation charge, according to court records.

The teen was reported missing from her Peoria group home on March 30. When she returned, she told a Phoenix Police officer that a man she didn’t know gave her a ride to a trailer in Buckeye near Tuthill and Arlington roads and sexually assaulted her multiple times before bringing her back to the group home, the probable cause statement said.

During an interview, the girl explained that Segundo picked her up at a Walmart, called her beautiful and gave her a ride to a pawn shop before locking her inside the car.

Segundo then took her to the trailer and allegedly made her inappropriately touch him, inappropriately touched her and sexually assaulted her six times. During one of the assaults, the girl claimed that Segundo was rough and choked her.

While at the trailer, the teen found paperwork that had Segundo’s first name on it and listed him as being 26.

On March 31, an examination of the teen found two contusions on the right side of her neck as well as a laceration and contusion to her right forearm, court records said.

On Aug. 27, the teen was shown a photo lineup and immediately identified Segundo as the man who assaulted her.

Segundo was then interviewed by authorities on Wednesday and initially denied knowing the teen, even after being shown a picture of her. However, he later admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the girl, but claimed it was consensual and said he didn’t know her age.

He also told investigators that he has “urges” to look for homeless women to have consensual sexual activity with and believed that the teen was one of these women, adding that he gave her $50 because he knew she needed money. Additionally, Segundo denied choking or being rough with the teen, according to records.

The probable cause statement noted that Segundo is a registered sex offender due to being previously convicted of having sexual conduct with a minor. He also has prior allegations against him for allegedly fathering a 15-year-old girl’s baby when he was 18.
