Temporary ground stop issued at Phoenix Sky Harbor amid thunderstorms
Departures from certain zones into Phoenix were put on hold Wednesday because of the weather.

Thunderstorms prompted a midday ground stop at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Wednesday.
The ground stop for departures from certain zones to Sky Harbor was set to run from noon to 1:15 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
As of 1:45 p.m., the airport reported that more than 80 flights were delayed and nine were canceled on the day.
According to flight-tracking website FlightAware, nearly 200 flights into or out of Phoenix were delayed as of 1:45 p.m.
Wednesday’s forecast called for storm activity throughout the day and possible flooding.
