SAFE Alert issued for missing 72-year-old man last seen in Chandler

A SAFE Alert was issued Saturday for a missing 72-year-old man last seen in Chandler, authorities said.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Ronnie Mellberg was last seen between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. near Chandler Boulevard and Washington Street.

Mellberg is 5-foot-10 and weighs 158 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. The clothes he was last seen wearing are unknown, authorities said.

Authorities said Mellberg has a medical condition that may cause him to become lost or easily confused.

Anyone with information on Mellberg’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
