A person was hospitalized with serious injuries after a stabbing early Sunday morning in west Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting near 39th Avenue and Osborn Road around 4:45 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a victim suffering from a stab wound that was originally reported as a gunshot wound.

Phoenix Fire Department crews transported the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police located and detained a suspect nearby. Authorities said there was no outstanding threat to the community.

Detectives responded to the scene and took over the ongoing investigation. No further details were immediately available.
