Wild ride: Woman accused of stealing ambulance in Phoenix, driving it while impaired, crashing

A woman was arrested Thursday night for allegedly stealing an ambulance in Phoenix, driving it while impaired and crashing, authorities said.

Grace Marie Vicente, 24, was booked into jail on counts of DUI and vehicle theft, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Vicente is accused of driving off with an ambulance around 11 p.m. The Phoenix Fire Department vehicle was parked with the keys inside during a service call near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

Shortly after the theft, the ambulance crashed into another vehicle. Officers responded to the scene, found Vicente and took her into custody.

“Officers observed signs of impairment, and she was later booked for DUI and theft of means of transportation,” Sgt. Sheree Lee said in a media advisory.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
