Man taken into custody following standoff after allegedly breaking into Phoenix home

A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday following a brief standoff after he allegedly broke into a home in Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to a shooting call on Beautiful Lane near 27th Avenue and Baseline Road around 5 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The homeowner had safely exited the residence after the break-in, but the suspect remained inside.

After a brief barricade situation, police took the suspect into custody.

Investigators later learned that the man fired a handgun at a home, police said. No injuries were reported.

Authorities did not release information about charges or specify which home was fired at.
