2 critically injured after 2-vehicle collision at west Phoenix intersection

At least one person involved in the crash had to be extricated. The two people taken to the hospital were identified as a man and a woman.

Two people were hospitalized in critical condition after a crash involving two cars at a west Phoenix intersection on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Crews were called to the intersection of 55th Avenue and Van Buren Street for the collision around 2:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Two people, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital. At least one had to be freed from the wreckage.

Their ages and names were not provided.

It is not currently know what led to the west Phoenix crash.
