Earlier this month, a man who trafficked fentanyl and methamphetamine for a drug ring in Phoenix was sentenced to 10 years in prison, authorities said.

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge sentenced Anthony Mead on Aug. 4, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

Mead previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession of methamphetamine for sale and and one count of misconduct involving weapons.

Court documents show Mead faced several charges related to possessing DMT, fentanyl pills and methamphetamine for sale.

Officers arrested him at his Phoenix home on Jan. 10, 2024, after a months-long drug trafficking investigation that began in September 2023. Inside, investigators found more than:

  • 11,400 fentanyl pills
  • 4.1 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 40 grams of DMT
  • Four firearms
  • $36,028 in cash
  • Money counters and drug-packaging materials

“Illicit drugs have no place in Arizona communities,” said Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes in a Monday news release.

Mead had previous convictions dating back to the 1990s, including convictions for selling dangerous drugs, according to prosecutors. He was indicted on April 22, 2024.

“We will keep working with our federal and local law enforcement partners to get dangerous drug traffickers off the streets and hold them accountable,” Mayes said.
