Man dies almost a week after being assaulted during Maryvale soccer game fight

A 19-year-old died from his injuries on Thursday after being assaulted by multiple people at a soccer game in Maryvale nearly a week before, authorities said.
The Phoenix Police Department identified the man who died as Tumusifu Bazirake.
Bazirake’s body was given to the Office of the Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death.
Authorities noted that no suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal incident.

On Aug. 6, officers responded to a report of an unconscious man found in a field near Sueno Park in Maryvale, which is near 43rd Avenue and Encanto Boulevard, around 8 p.m.
The man was playing in a soccer game when a fight broke out, during which several suspects assaulted him, police said.
The suspects reportedly ran away, and the Phoenix Fire Department responded to bring the man to a nearby hospital in extremely critical condition.
