Phoenix students set to receive free meals with zero eligibility requirements

Phoenix high school students can save a little extra money this year without paying for lunch every day.

The Phoenix Union High School District is providing students at 17 of its 24 high schools with free breakfast and lunch every day for the upcoming school year.

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which offers meals without families having to fill out an eligibility form.

The schools participating are Alhambra, Linda Abril, Bioscience, Bostrom, Trevor Browne, Camelback, Central, Carl Hayden, Cactus Canyon, Franklin Police and Fire, Betty H Fairfax, Maryvale, Metro Tech, North, Phoenix Coding Academy, South Mountain and Wilson College Prep.

CEP focuses on high-poverty areas across the nation, reimbursing schools based on the percentage of students who are eligible for free lunches based on families’ SNAP benefits or other assistance programs.
