The 233 Suites hotel celebrates debut in downtown Mesa

The 233 Suites, a hotel that operates under the Unscripted by Hyatt brand, opened in downtown Mesa on Thursday, anchoring a highly anticipate redevelopment project.

It is located near Center and Main streets and has 76 rooms for guests. In addition to the hotel, the site consists of Crust Simply Italian, Bombolino’s Cafe, The Nightingale speakeasy as well as 13,000 square feet of class A office space.

“Mesa is becoming a destination, and that means we need places for people to stay. The opening of The 233 Suites helps meet the growing demand from visitors while strengthening our downtown economy,” Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman said in a news release. “Every new hotel room supports local restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and jobs.”

The hotel also features rooms with full kitchens, guest laundry facilities, fitness amenities, a pool and meeting and collaboration spaces.

“Visitors can stay steps away from our world-class museums, theaters and event spaces, while residents gain fresh new options for dining and gathering,” Councilmember Jenn Duff said. “Together, these additions strengthen the uniquely local experience that makes downtown Mesa special.”

Co-managers of the project, Saltrust and Hospitality Capital Partners, acquired the property after bankruptcy proceedings and reimagined the apartment development that was originally planned for the site.

“Transforming the original apartment concept into a boutique hotel required creativity, persistence and a shared vision from everyone involved,” Keith Mishkin, managing partner of Hospitality Capital Partners, said. “We’re especially grateful to the city of Mesa for being an outstanding partner throughout the process. Their collaboration and commitment to the continued growth of downtown helped make this unique mixed use development a reality.”
