Divorce argument ends in apparent murder-suicide in Lake Havasu City, police say

A husband and wife who were facing divorce proceedings were found dead in what police described as a murder-suicide at a Lake Havasu City residence on Saturday afternoon.

Officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department found the bodies of 49-year-old Laura Smith and 60-year-old Brian Smith in the residence around 1:45 p.m.

When Brian Smith’s adult son tried to deescalate the situation, the two men got into a physical altercation.

After the fight, Brian Smith grabbed a shotgun from another room and shot Laura Smith multiple times, police said.

He then moved to a separate room, where he fatally shot himself, police said.
