No injuries reported after 3 train cars go off track in Mesa

Three Union Pacific train cars derailed in Mesa early Tuesday, affecting traffic for morning commuters.

Nobody was injured and the train cars remained upright after going off the tracks near Center Street and Broadway Road shortly after midnight, according to the Mesa Fire and Medical Department.

Motorists can expect road restrictions in the area of the derailment for an undetermined time, authorities said.

Emergency responders did not find any hazardous conditions, such as leaks, odors, smoke or fire.

Union Pacific officials told ABC15 that cleanup is underway and the cause of the derailment is under investigation.
