Deadly chain reaction crash closes westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway in Mesa
The collision shut down westbound travel less than 5 miles west of Mesa Gateway Airport.

Westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway was closed in Mesa due to a chain reaction crash that left a woman dead on Sunday.
The crash occurred at 11:06 a.m. just beyond the Higley Road overpass, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
According to DPS, a Volkswagen electric vehicle was stopped in the second lane from the left with mechanical issues when it was clipped by a Volkswagen Jetta. A Chevrolet pickup truck then struck the Jetta, killing a woman who was its sole occupant.
The collision shut down westbound travel less than 5 miles west of Mesa Gateway Airport.
Authorities expected Loop 202 to remain closed until about 3 p.m.
Eastbound lanes were unaffected by the collision, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
