Pedestrian dead after getting hit by vehicle in Phoenix

Traffic was restricted on 16th Street between Interstate 10 and McDowell Road for the police investigation Friday morning.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Phoenix on Friday morning, police said.

Authorities said traffic on 16th Street would be restricted between Interstate 10 and McDowell Road for several hours during the investigation.

Officers and firefighters were called to the area of 16th and Brill streets, just south of McDowell Road, about 5 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

When they arrived, they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The emergency responders performed life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, police said.
