A man died after being hit by a car in Phoenix Saturday night, authorities said.
The collision occurred near 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard around 10:57 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Police responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision and found the man in extremely critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Vehicular Crimes Unit determined the man was crossing the street mid-block, not in a crosswalk, when a 2018 Dodge Challenger traveling north on 59th Avenue hit him.
The driver remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment. Police said neither speed or impairment appear to be factors in the collision, and no charges have been recommended.
