SAFE Alert canceled after missing 61-year-old man located at hospital

Authorities canceled a SAFE Alert on Thursday for a 61-year-old man receiving treatment at a hospital who was reported missing in Phoenix.

Roland Myers was at Banner University Medical Center for mental health care when the alert was activated and staff recognized it was for one of their patients. He has been reunited with family, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Myers is 6 feet tall and was wearing a light gray sweatsuit and strap-on sandals when he was previously last seen, authorities said.

He was last seen Tuesday in the area of 14th and Wood streets, northwest of Broadway Road and 16th Street. Police said Myers has a medical condition that can cause him to become confused and easily lost.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental or cognitive disabilities.
