PHOENIX — A drug raid ended up doubling as a nearly half-daylong rescue of a puppy trapped inside a pipe under a Phoenix house.
Phoenix police initially went to a home near 39th Avenue and Buckeye Road early Thursday afternoon to serve a search warrant. Eventually they found the newborn in the pipe.
With the aid of a plumber’s snake cam, the puppy, which appeared to be a pit bull mix, was located. After 10 hours of work it was pulled from the pipe.
An Arizona Humane Society spokeswoman said the 1-2 week-old dog was taken to an emergency animal clinic. It will be transferred Friday to a trauma center for homeless animals.
