Woman in critical condition after multivehicle crash in east Phoenix

A woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a crash involving multiple cars in east Phoenix on Tuesday night, authorities said.

Crews responded to the area of 44th Street and McDowell Road around 7 p.m. for the three-car collision, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

In addition to the woman, a man was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

There were two other people involved in the crash, but they refused treatment, fire officials said.

It is currently unknown what led to the collision.
