Motorcyclist dead after multi-vehicle crash in Phoenix

A motorcyclist died, and another person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

A motorcyclist died, and another person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a crash near 12th Street and Bell Road around 5:33 p.m.

Upon arrival, Phoenix police found a motorcycle and two vehicles involved in the crash. Witnesses told police the motorcyclist was driving westbound on Bell Road at a high speed when he crashed into a passenger vehicle that was turning left to go northbound on 12th Street.

The impact of the crash pushed the passenger vehicle into another vehicle that was stopped at a light, and witnesses said the motorcycle caught on fire.

The motorcyclist, 34-year-old Carlos Alejandro Barnett Real, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
