Phoenix police shot and killed felon wanted for alleged child sex crimes who pointed gun at officers

Phoenix police shot and killed a felon who was wanted for child sex crimes on Thursday in north Phoenix.

The shooting occurred near Pinnacle Peak Road and 23rd Avenue, just east of Interstate 17, shortly before 6 p.m.

Police located the suspect, 56-year-old James Glenn, traveling on Pinnacle Peak Road. Police used a grappler to stop the vehicle.

While sitting in his vehicle, Glenn allegedly raised a gun and pointed it at officers, prompting the shooting, police said. Two officers fired multiple times while Glenn was still in the vehicle.

Glenn was pronounced dead at the scene, and no officers were injured.

Pinnacle Peak Road closed between I-17 and 23rd Avenue to allow for investigation.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the shooting along with an internal Phoenix Police review.
