Drone helps Peoria police locate stolen vehicle, detain 6 suspects

The Peoria Police Department announced on Thursday a new drone played a vital role in locating a stolen vehicle and detaining six suspects in just minutes.

Using a “Flock Drone” and its real-time crime center, which opened in March 2025, Peoria police found the vehicle in about two minutes and were able to respond quickly after.

According to Peoria police, six suspects were surveilled exiting the stolen vehicle and “running through a mobile home complex.”

Body cam and drone footage released by the department showed the operation play out, and none of those detained or officers were injured.

In the final seconds of the clip, one officer can be heard saying, “Eye in the sky, baby! Dude that (Drone First Responder’s) legit.”

The exact location of the operation was not revealed.
