Rain sprinkles parts of metro Phoenix as cold front moves through Valley

PHOENIX — Parts of metro Phoenix were sprinkled with rain as storms and a cold front made their way through the Valley on Monday night.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix said the cold front entered the Valley around 7:45 p.m. and advised community members that it could produce wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph. The weather authority noted that the high winds could kick up dust, causing hazy conditions.

The cold front was accompanied by a few storms and some showers that were expected to mainly move through the northern parts of metro Phoenix, according to NWS.

However, Arizona Department of Transportation traffic cameras along State Route 51 near exits for Shea Boulevard and Northern Avenue showed slightly wet roads.

As of 9:15 p.m., Maricopa County’s Rainfall Data Map showed measurable rainfall only in areas north of New River and Cave Creek, which received 0.04 inches of rain.
