ASU Gammage reveals 2026-27 Broadway season, with ‘Phantom of the Opera’ up first

PHOENIX – ASU Gammage on Monday unveiled its next Broadway season lineup, featuring a mix of Tempe premieres, classics and new hits.

Current season ticket holders can renew their subscriptions now. A waitlist is open for new full-season packages, which go on sale April 7.

The 10-show 2026–2027 Desert Financial Broadway Across America-Arizona season starts with a plummeting chandelier as the legendary musical “The Phantom of the Opera” returns to ASU Gammage.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh’s updated version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic will run in Tempe from Sept. 16 to Oct. 4.

“Phantom” is one of eight shows included the new season ticket package. Subscribers will also get first dibs at tickets for two popular Broadway shows that aren’t part of the package: “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” (Dec. 1-6, 2026) and “Beetlejuice” (Jan. 1-3, 2027).

Here’s the rest of the 2026–2027 ASU Gammage lineup:

Oct. 27-Nov. 1, 2026: “Water for Elephants,” a 2024 musical adaptation of the Sara Gruen book and 2011 movie.

Jan. 26-31, 2027: “The Outsiders,” a musical based on the S.E. Hinton novel and Francis Ford Coppola movie about teen gang members in 1960s Oklahoma.

Feb. 23-28, 2027: “Operation Mincemeat,” a fast-paced musical comedy about a secret World War II mission that has been described as “Singin’ in the Rain” meets “Strangers on a Train.”

April 20-25, 2027: “Buena Vista Social Club,” which brings the Grammy Award-winning album of Cuban music to life.

May 18-23, 2027: “Boop! The Musical,” a new family-friendly production based on iconic cartoon character Betty Boop.

June 22-27, 2027: “The Sound of Music,” the beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein classic.

Aug. 24-29, 2027: “Death Becomes Her,” a musical comedy that was adopted from the 1992 movie and earned 10 Tony Award nominations in 2025.
