Phoenix police investigating hit-and-run that left 1 dead

Investigators with the Phoenix Police Department are trying to find the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run that took place on Sunday night.

PHOENIX — A man died after a hit-and-run in Phoenix on Sunday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian near 19th Street and Broadway Road around 8:15 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The responding officers found 76-year-old Roger Jackson with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene before police arrived.

Upon investigation, police said Jackson was crossing Broadway Road in an unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle that was heading eastbound.

The investigation remains ongoing.
