PHOENIX — The city of Peoria has officially broken ground on its first new fire station in 20 years.

Fire-Medical Station 198, located near Vistancia Boulevard and White Peak Drive, broke ground Tuesday and is expected to be completed by 2027, according to a news release.

“As Peoria continues to grow, especially in the north, we are making intentional investments to ensure residents receive the highest level of fire and emergency medical services,” Mayor Jason Beck said. “Fire Station 198 represents our commitment to long-term planning, strategic investment and focus on building a safer community, not just for today, but for generations to come.”

“This groundbreaking is a symbol of Peoria’s dedication to the safety, health and well-being of every resident,” Peoria Fire-Medical Chief Gary Bernard said. “Fire Station 198 ensures our firefighters and paramedics are equipped to protect a growing community.”

In addition to Fire-Medical Station 198, Peoria will open a temporary fire station south of the Saddleback community next month.
