Big purple hello: Students move in at Grand Canyon University

PHOENIX — That purple wave visible in one part of Phoenix on Monday morning was expected — it was move-in day at Grand Canyon University.

About 6,500 students will spend Welcome Week filling the dorms at the private university near 35th Avenue and Camelback Road.

According to school figures, overall enrollment of traditional students has reached 16,000.
