Man arrested after hit-and-run leaves bicyclist dead in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A 46-year-old man has been arrested on manslaughter charges after a fatal collision in south Phoenix on Sunday morning, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department said Eric Dustin Hodge struck a woman riding a bicycle around 11:15 a.m. near Central Avenue and Elwood Street, then left the scene.

The victim, 26-year-old Hannah Rose Henry, was riding in the designated bike lane when Hodge’s vehicle veered right and hit her, according to investigators with the Vehicular Crimes Unit.

First responders pronounced Henry dead at the scene.

After police contacted Hodge at a residence, he allegedly admitted involvement. He was booked on charges including manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash and possession/use of narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $750,000.
