Gilbert police arrest 2 after sexual assault investigation

PHOENIX — The Gilbert Police Department has arrested two men for sexual assault after the victim targeted by both reported the abuse.

Police began their investigation on Dec. 14, 2025, with 38-year-old Austin Nelson as the initial person of interest. He allegedly drugged his wife and coordinated a multi-person effort online to “sexually assault her while unconscious,” according to Gilbert police.

Nelson reportedly recorded the multiple instances of assault and was arrested and booked on Jan. 3 by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). He was taken into custody for charges including unlawfully administering intoxicating liquors, narcotic drug or dangerous drug, voyeurism, unlawful disclosure of nude images and facilitating sexual assault.

Gilbert police detectives on Tuesday then found and arrested 41-year-old Evan Torres for allegedly “engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim while she was unconscious and unable to consent.”

Torres was booked by MCSO for sexual assault.

This investigation is ongoing.
