1 critically injured in hatchet attack in Avondale, suspect arrested
The Avondale Police Department said a man was critically injured after a hatchet attack in the area of Pacific Drive and First Street on Saturday.

PHOENIX — A man was injured in a hatchet attack in Avondale on Saturday morning, authorities said.
The Avondale Police Department said the incident took place shortly before 6 a.m. in the area of Pacific Drive and First Street.
Officers who arrived to the scene for a welfare check found a man with injuries to his head. He was brought to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police said they also arrested the suspect, Oscar Funes.
The victim, whose name was not released, remains in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.
