PHOENIX – A delivery driver shot at a bat-wielding attacker in a Peoria neighborhood on Thursday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. in a subdivision of the Vistancia community near White Peak Drive and 137th Avenue, according to the Peoria Police Department.
Osley Puente-Marquez, 40, of Phoenix allegedly exited his vehicle and swung a bat at the delivery driver during a confrontation, police said.
The driver used pepper spray, which was ineffective, before firing a gun in self-defense, police said. The bullet did not hit anybody.
After conducting interviews and reviewing surveillance video, police arrested Puente-Marquez and booked him into jail on counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and forgery.
