One person was killed and multiple others were injured when a light rail train and a pickup truck collided in central Phoenix on Tuesday morning.

PHOENIX – One person was killed and multiple others were injured when a light rail train and a pickup truck collided in central Phoenix on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly after 5 a.m. at Central Avenue and Indian School Road, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
The intersection was closed in all directions in the aftermath of the crash, according to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation.
Valley Metro said the light rail B Line along Central Avenue between the Camelback Road and Thomas Road stations would be out of service for an undetermined time. The transit agency deployed shuttle buses to take riders between those stations.

How many people were injured in Phoenix light rail train collision?
Emergency responders evaluated seven patients after the collision.
A man who was in the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Phoenix Police Department. He was identified as 28-year-old Mario Dircio-Castrejon.
Three train passengers were hospitalized, along with the light rail operator, for precautionary reasons, police said.
From a preliminary investigation, police believe Dircio-Castrejon was traveling eastbound on Indian School Road when the light at Central Avenue turned red. Police said he didn’t stop for the red light and collided with the southbound light rail.
However, the investigation is ongoing.
