SAFE Alert canceled after missing 68-year-old Phoenix man located

A Phoenix man who went missing over the weekend, prompting a SAFE Alert, has been reunited with his family.

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man who went missing over the weekend, prompting a SAFE Alert, has been reunited with his family, authorities said Monday morning.

Raymond Rey, 68, was located in a neighboring jurisdiction, according to the Phoenix Police Department. No other details about how he was found were made available.

A SAFE Alert for Rey was activated early Sunday. At the time, he was last seen in a manual wheelchair near 37th Street and McDowell Road around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Rey is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 134 pounds. He has brown eyes and is bald.

He suffers from a medical condition which may cause him to become disoriented or confused.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
