PHOENIX – Tonight at 6 p.m., the Kyrene School District governing board will vote on closing up to eight schools due to budget issues and declining enrollment.
According to the district, Kyrene is supposed to have 20,000 students, but currently, only 12,000 are enrolled, with trends continuing downwards.
The vote comes after months of parents and children asking the board for alternative solutions to closure.
The closures could save the district over $7 million, with changes set to take place as soon as next school year if the motion passes.
The district could face a potential $6 million budget shortfall over the next five years from lowering enrollment alone if nothing is done.

The Right-wingers are completely fine with the dumbing down of America. Trump said it himself, he loves the "poorly educated".
Next there will only be private schools and only the rich will get a good education….just like everything else they get their hands on.
