Scooterist dead after being struck by vehicle in Phoenix
A man on a motorized scooter was struck by a vehicle and died on Monday, according to authorities.

PHOENIX — A man on a motorized scooter was struck by a vehicle and died on Monday, according to authorities.
Phoenix police responded to the collision near Missouri and Seventh avenues around 1:21 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found 53-year-old Rodger Loar suffering from life-threatening injuries.
The Phoenix Fire Department responded and took Loar to the hospital, where he later died.
The driver that hit Loar remained at the scene.
What do detectives believe led up to the scooterist’s death?
Detectives took over the investigation and believe Loar was crossing the road westbound and was inside the crosswalk on his motorized scooter when the driver of a northbound SUV struck Loar while making a right turn.
Detectives don’t believe impairment was a factor, and a charging decision will be determined once the investigation is complete.
No other information was made available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
