Glendale police identify 2 people killed in crash Friday

PHOENIX — Police have identified two people who were killed in a crash in the West Valley on Friday.

Jaslin Avila, 21, and Cynthia Garcia Morales, 24, were both killed in the collision, which happened near Bell Road and the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway, according to the Glendale Police Department.

The victims were cousins, according to a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for funeral expenses.

Police said Avila was driving a white GMC with Morales and three juveniles inside when he collided with a woman driving a silver Hyundai.

The three children and the woman driving the silver Hyundai all received non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, police said.

The crash led to an extended closure of the Loop 101 off-ramps at Bell Road.

The investigation into this crash is still underway.
