Person hospitalized after officer-involved shooting with Tucson police

PHOENIX — A person is in the hospital after an officer-involved shooting with Tucson police on Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to the Tucson Police Department, the incident started with a shooting at an apartment in the area of Old Spanish Trail and Camino Seco.

A description of the suspect matched the description of an armed robbery suspect at a nearby Walmart, which was where two uniformed officers found the man.

A short foot pursuit ensued and after the suspect refused commands to drop his weapon, officers and the suspect exchanged gunfire.

The suspect was taken into custody by police and transported to a hospital by the Tucson Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the shooting occurred around 9:45 a.m.

No other injuries were reported, according to Tucson PD.

Police said that the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team is responding to investigate.
