PHOENIX — Embassy Suites by Hilton will be coming to The BLVD in Avondale, the city announced Tuesday.
The city of Avondale is partnering with developer Web Avondale Investments, LLC, — which is part of the Whitten Development portfolio — to create a development agreement for the hotel.
“We are thrilled to welcome Embassy Suites to Avondale,” Avondale Mike Pineda said in the announcement. “With this new hotel and conference space, Avondale will be able to attract and host larger events, bringing new opportunities that will further solidify our position as a regional destination.”
What will the Embassy Suites coming to Avondale have?
The hotel will be six stories and consist of 180 rooms as well as 10,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.
It will also have a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the Estrella Mountains and a state-of-the-art design and other amenities.
Whitten Development was founded in 1999 and has developed and managed multiple hotel properties nationwide under the Hilton and Marriott brands.
“We are looking forward to coming to Avondale and being a part of this great community,” Whitten Development CEO Tim Whitten said.
The project is anticipated not only to create new employment opportunities, but also increase the city’s commercial tac base as well as its ability to host large-scale events.
The incoming Embassy Suites is part of The BLVD’s development vision of being an entertainment center that has a blend of commerce, recreation, hospitality, retail and restaurants.
Whitten Development is partnering with Blueprints Capital for the next phase of The BLVD’s development which includes plans for a walkable, mixed-use entertainment district that features dining, retail, family-friendly attractions, cultural programming and vibrant public spaces.
“Momentum is building at The BLVD,” Avondale’s Director of Economic Development Jennifer Stein said. “This Embassy Suites and the broader development reinforce Avondale’s position as ‘The Center of it All’ for hospitality, entertainment and business.”
The Avondale City Council approved the notice of intent for the Embassy Suites on Tuesday and is expected to consider the development agreement in November.
