17-year-old boy dead after shooting at apartment complex in Mesa

A 17-year-old is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in Mesa early Monday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A 17-year-old is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in Mesa early Monday morning, authorities said.

According to the Mesa Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a complex near Gilbert Road and Inverness Avenue around 2 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two males suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the hospital and the other, a 19-year-old, was transported to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

That phrasing always gives me pause; were they expecting these guys to be enjoying their gunshot wounds?
