Hit-and-run crash leaves man riding e-scooter dead in Phoenix

A 59-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash while riding an electric scooter in Phoenix.

PHOENIX — A man died in a hit-and-run crash while riding an electric scooter in Phoenix on Saturday night, authorities said. 

The crash happened near the intersection of 67th Avenue and Indian School Road around 7:40 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

When the fire department arrived on the scene, they found 59-year-old Eden Cuautli Zacatelco unresponsive and in critical condition.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police are searching for a suspect believed to be driving a black truck.

It is believed Eden was heading eastbound when he was hit by the truck.

An investigation remains ongoing.
