Gulfstream Aerospace opens technical training center in Mesa

PHOENIX — Gulfstream Aerospace announced the opening of its newest technical training center in Mesa on Monday.

The facility will be a dedicated space for on-the-job training to help expand Gulfstream’s workforce.

It’s the second technical training center that Gulfstream has opened, the first opened at its headquarters in Savannah, Georgia in 2015.

“Investing in workforce development and training ensures that with every interaction, our customers receive the industry-leading support Gulfstream is known for,” Senior Vice President of Customer Support Lor Izzard said in the announcement. “The addition of our newest Technical Training Center in Mesa provides even more opportunities for employees to enhance their skills to deliver the highest quality experience and service for our customers.”

The technical training center has 10,000 square feet of classroom and lab space.

The facility will have a Gulfstream 650 fuselage segment and empennage assembly, a G700 engine, a G600 simulator and a G200 aircraft.

The equipment is supposed to help support technicians’ skills development training in sheet metal work, avionics, mechanical maintenance and safety training.

Gulfstream also recently opened a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Mesa Gateway Airport. That facility brought more than 300 jobs to Arizona.

Gulfstream is actively hiring and those new team members will be onboarded and trained at the technical training center.

The company is continuing its partnership Chandler-Gilbert Community College and will train and hire students in the college’s airframe and powerplant maintenance technology programs.

In fact, Gulfstream has already hired 40 students from the community college.
