PHOENIX — Police in southern Arizona arrested a woman accused of child sex crimes last week.
The arrest of 38-year-old Zana Horton for two counts of sexual conduct with a minor took place last Thursday, Sierra Vista Police Department told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Wednesday.
She was taken into custody after a monthlong investigation triggered by the Juvenile Detention Center in Phoenix reporting an alleged romantic and sexual relationship between an adult and a juvenile, police said.
Investigators with the Sierra Vista Police Department’s Special Operations Bureau identified her as a suspect after finding several letters detailing an alleged sexual relationship between her and the juvenile.
KVOA, the NBC affiliate in Tucson, identified Horton as a former kindergarten teacher at Berean Academy in Sierra Vista.
