1 person hurt when small plane makes crash landing near north Phoenix airport

PHOENIX – A small plane made a crash landing in a field near a north Phoenix airport on Friday morning, authorities said.

Two occupants were outside the aircraft when firefighters responded to the scene near Phoenix Deer Valley Airport before 6 a.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

One of the occupants, a 21-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The plane was upside down after going down near Seventh Street and Pinnacle Peak Road.

The cause of the crash landing is under investigation. No other details were immediately available.

It was the second plane crash in the vicinity of Phoenix Deer Valley Airport in less than two months. A man survived a biplane crash near Central Avenue and Deer Valley Road on April 19.
