PHOENIX – A new Arizona public opinion poll provides insight into how the state’s voters are thinking with over a year to go until the midterm elections.
Noble Predictive Insights (NPI) surveyed registered Arizona voters on a variety of issues — including tariffs and immigration enforcement — on May 12-16.
The Phoenix-based research firm released its findings on Tuesday.
What did Arizona public opinion poll find about tariffs?
The poll found that a majority of Arizona voters believe tariffs — a key element of President Donald Trump’s economic policy – hurt the economy.
Fifty-one percent of respondents said tariffs are harmful, with 37% saying the import taxes help the economy and 12% unsure.
Unsurprisingly, Republicans were more likely to think tariffs helped, with 66% of GOP respondents holding a favorable view of them.
But a majority of Democrats (82%) and independents (53%) said tariffs are harmful.
David Byler, NPI chief of research, called tariffs “a classic wedge issue.”
“Most Republicans trust Donald Trump’s approach — but a real chunk of the GOP sees the real-time effect on markets and feels unsure,” Byler said in a press release. “Democrats, on the other hand, are united. And most independents think tariffs hurt.
“That equation — divided Republicans, united Democrats — adds up to a majority for the anti-Trump position.”
What did Arizona public opinion poll find about immigration enforcement?
Meanwhile, a majority of Arizona voters across the board support turning over undocumented individuals to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if they are caught committing serious crimes.
However, the state is split when it comes to minor crimes, with 45% of respondents against involving ICE in those cases and 44% for it.
“Voters agree with the Republican Party’s law-and-order approach to undocumented immigrants who commit major crimes,” Byler said. “And Arizona is more conflicted when it comes to minor infractions.”

We should not confuse MAGA folks with kids that passed 5th grade.
So what is the point again of producing 100% of our steel? That China only supplies 1.8% of our steel consumption isn’t surprising.
As stated, they don’t have much in the way of competitive advantage and even in a free trade regime, a 2% net tariff and transportation costs make penetrating the U.S. market an uphill battle for them.
Presumably we have access to Canadian steel. How much are you willing to pay for the satisfaction of being 100% self-sufficient?
I keep forgetting you're really really stupid. The U.S. holds about 15% of all global rare earth resources but not reserves specifically. I know why that is and it was referenced in my above statement. You can have somebody with an IQ about 11 read it to you and then explain what the words mean but you still won't understand why we don't currently have a lot of reserves but it has a lot to do with very stupid people(Smarter than you but still very stupid) thinking we could some how harm the planet because we are so powerful and important.
